0Aung San Suu Kyi – finally receiving the Sakharov Prize
Burmese opposition politician and chairperson of the National League for Democracy in Burma – Aung San Suu Kyi – finally received the Sakharov Prize, on 22 October, by the European Parliament’s President Martin Schulz… 23 years late. This exceptional woman spent 15 years under house arrest and was finally freed three years ago.
